Yearling Sales Preparation

Apart from the breeding facilities of the main stud area, we have a separate yearling yard of 27 stables from which we have been preparing yearlings to sell at all the top European sales for over the last 40 years. This yard is fully equipped with its own horse walker, covered lungeing ring, and 160 acres of paddocks, which continue to expand each year as new fields are being added from the estate’s 1,500 acre arable farm.

We pride ourselves on the attention to detail to which we prepare the yearlings for the sales, an example of this being that we have designed the Polytrack lungeing ring to replicate the specifications of those that are found at Tattersalls in order that the yearlings are as familiar as possible with their surroundings for the testing time at the sales.

Recent highly successful graduates of our yearling preparation service have included Group 1 Fillies Mile winner HIBAAYEB, and Timeform Million winner OASIS DANCER in 2009. And in 2010, Group 1 Prix De L'Abbaye winner GILT EDGE GIRL, and Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes winner Temple Meads.
