Welcome to Whitsbury Manor Stud
Top
Class Facilities In An Idyllic Setting
Yearling, mare and foal sales preparation
Boarding facilities for mares, weanlings and yearlings.
A host of successful
stallions have been housed at the stud including Ballymoss, Distant
Relative, Young Generation, Averti and Cadeaux Genereux. The latest
arrival, Refuse To Bend who relocated to Whitsbury for the 2010 breeding season, is to stand
alongside Avonbridge, Cadeaux Genereux, Compton Place and Sakhee's Secret.
The stud itself consists of 550 acres of post and
rail paddocks and 165 boxes. There is a main central foaling yard,
covering yard, stallion boxes and paddocks plus the office. The yard
for maiden and barren mares consists of two barns, a horse walker and
all-weather wood chip paddocks. There is also a totally separate isolation
yard of 18 boxes.
Apart from the main breeding facilities is a 25 box
yearling yard. This has its own horse walker, lunging rings and 150
acres of paddocks. The stud is still expanding and each year new paddocks
are being added from the 1,500 acre farm and dairy
During the height of the breeding season there are
up to 150 visiting mares on the stud alongside the 60 resident mares.
Around 20 mares are boarded permanently by private owners. Yearlings
and foals belonging both to clients and Whitsbury Manor Stud are prepared
and sold at all the main sales venues. Mares, foals and yearlings are
actively encouraged to board and be prepared for sale at Whitsbury
Manor Stud, where very competitive rates are offered.
The gallops owned by the estate are probably the country's
best private gallops and are where horses such as Desert Orchid and
Persian Punch were trained.
Whitsbury Manor Stud has produced Group 1
winners
Bijou D’Inde, Hoh
Magic, Enstone Spark and Red Lord,
plus a host of other international top class horses.
